Escape to the Chateau follows Dick Strawbridge and his family as they get to work renovating the Château de la Motte-Husson in France. A total of seven seasons have aired so far, with the latest season taking place during the coronavirus pandemic. Fans are keen to know whether there will be an eighth season any time soon.
Will there be a season 8 of Escape to the Chateau?
Escape to the Chateau made its debut back in 2016 and each series follows the family through a different phase in the chateau development process.
The stunning building was used as Dick and Angel’s wedding venue, and the couple now host weddings for other guests.
Fans can also take part in the ultimate glamping experience on the chateau grounds, and it has become an iconic piece of architecture.
The series has proven to be so popular, it inspired a number of spin-offs including Escape to the Chateau DIY and Escape to the Chateau: Make, Do and Mend.
The latter is returning for a new season this week (June 24) and fans are keen to know whether the original series will get another outing.
Season seven aired across November and December 2020, and it included a festive special that aired on Christmas Day.
Fans will be pleased to hear filming is underway for an eighth season, but no release date has been given yet.
This may be because the family has been so busy with the spin-off series, with Make, Do and Mend returning to screens.
The family is also taking part in a Dick and Angel Dare To Do It tour, which starts in 2022.
They will be visiting various locations across the country and tickets are available to book now.
The good news is fans will get a season eight eventually, and the family announced the news on their website.
They said: “Our adventures were recorded in Channel 4’s primetime series ‘Escape to the Chateau’, now filming its eighth season.
“We are so proud to have this documentary of our lives to show the children one day.”
In the meantime, seasons one to seven are available to buy on DVD now and they can be accessed via ALL 4.
The family also advertised their Make, Do and Mend series on the website, which is now in its second season.
They said: “In spring 2020, with the world in lockdown, we teamed up (virtually) with families across the UK looking for practical advice and inspiration for a home project of their own.
“Our new DIY and homecraft series – Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend – was filmed entirely by us at The Chateau and became Channel 4’s biggest new series launch in the primetime 8pm slot.
“This summer we return to help the nation solve more make-do and mend dilemmas with clear ‘how to’ advice, and some of our own tips and tricks.”
The series has also gone down a huge hit with fans in the US and they have taken to social media to share their thoughts.
One fan said on Instagram: “Patiently waiting for you to come back to the USA. Totally enjoy watching the show and your family.”
The new Make, Do and Mend series is running for six weeks, with one episode airing each week.
The Radio Times synopsis for the series says: “Dick and Angel Strawbridge help Kate and Erik restore their 150-year-old sash window and turn their small landing into a beautiful space for all the family that not only looks amazing and brings the past back to life but saves thousands of pounds.
“Angel reveals the art of creating repeat patterns on fabric as a unique solution to Jo and family’s desire to display their precious vintage family photos in something other than a frame.
“Dick solves Suzanna and Luke’s conundrum of how to turn a treasured wardrobe into a showcase for shoes, by designing ingenious shelving inspired by a visit to the kitchen.”
With this episode schedule in mind, it will come to an end towards the end of July 2021. Hopefully, by then, we should have some more ETTC season eight news.
Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on ALL 4.
