Will Abi Franklin take a drug overdose in Coronation Street and does she go to prison?

But she could also soon be joining Sally Metcalfe in prison after being blamed for causing the fatal car crash that killed Ronan Truman – here's everything you need to know…

Will Abi Franlin take an overdoes in Coronation Street?

Abi is set to take an overdose after finding out that her kids' foster parents are taking them to Lapland for Christmas.

She then cancels her visit and instead watches them playing in their foster carer's garden while she drinks vodka.

Things take a turn for the worse when she relapses on drugs, leaving a desperate voicemail asking Tracy for help.

When Tracy finds her lying unconscious on Victoria street she calls an ambulance.

Is Abi Franklin going to prison with Sally Metcalfe?

The Sun Online revealed that Coronation Street had a prison story lined up for Abi and that she would be spending Christmas 2018 behind bars.

A source revealed: “Abi has worked really hard to turn her life around but this could undo all that.

"She's going to end up behind bars for a crime she didn't commit and no-one's going to believe that she isn't responsible."

Viewers watched as Tracy Barlow – played by Kate Ford – sabotaged Michelle’s car in a blind rage as she believed Abi had been sleeping with her fiancé Steve McDonald.

Abi – who had been working on Michelle’s car – was innocent and had only been teaching Steve to dance to impress Tracy at their wedding.

Michelle’s car then went on to be involved in a fatal car crash.

The source added: "Tracy is the only one who will be able to save Abi but she's Tracy Barlow so how likely is that?"

However it won't be all bad news for Abi as the recovering drug addict will have at least one familiar face in prison – Sally Metcalfe.

The disgraced Mayor of Weatherfield is in prison awaiting her fraud trial after being set up by a conman.

She was framed for the theft of £40,000 charity money by Duncan Radfield and later refused bail after discovering some of the witnesses and phoning them to demand they tell the truth.

"It's set to be an interesting time for Abi behind bars at Christmas but at least she will have a familiar face behind bars with Sally Metcalfe still there for her.

"They could even become the cobbles' new favourite double act."

Who is Abi Franklin in Coronation Street?

Abi Franklin – played by former Shameless star Sally Carmen – is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic.

When she first arrived on out screens back in 2017, Anna Windass – former Corrie actress Debbie Rush – was concerned about the welfare of her young twins as Abi was drinking vodka while looking after them during the day.

In October 2017 Abi was found collapsed by her son Seb and his girlfriend Faye Windass after a heroin overdose.

She was then sent to rehab and lost her twins who were placed in foster care while Abi recovered and tried to get her act together.
