Among them is aspiring baker and blood courier Jon Jenkins. Here's everything you need to know about him.
Who is The Great British Bake Off 2018's Jon Jenkins?
Jon Jenkins, 47, is a blood courier from Newport and one of the 12 contestants hoping to win the Great British Bake Off prize.
Jon said he loves to bake after a hard day at work and aims to make impressive creations and experiment with different techniques.
He revealed he loves to research new ideas to achieve something unique in his baking.
The father of four said: "The tent is far easier than my kitchen, at home I have the kids running around, after school clubs to pick up from and my wife trying to keep the kitchen clean and tidy."
Why did Jon apply to go on the Great British Bake Off?
Jon revealed he wasn't persuaded to apply for the show by friends and family unlike most of his fellow bakers, but decided himself to give it a try.
He said he went on "just for me really".
He added: "I’ve always loved cooking, especially baking and as a family we’ve always loved watching Bake Off.
"I bake as often as I can, several times a week, mainly in the day while my wife and children are at school as I get some peace that way."
The Great British Bake Off 2018 started on Tuesday, August 28, at 8pm on Channel 4, and airs at the same time each week.
Last year's series was won by Sophie Faldo who was an officer in the British Army's Royal Artillery.
Presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig return as presenters, alongside judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
