When is They Shall Not Grow Old released in the UK?

Peter Jackson's latest venture They Shall Not Grow Old is set to have its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) on October 16.

The esteemed director has also planned a post-screening Q&A session with film critic Mark Kermode.

From then on, the movie will be released in 2D and 3D across the UK.

The full LFF schedule will be announced on Thursday, August 30.

How did Peter Jackson make the WW1 movie?

The 56-year-old Lord of The Rings director, producer and film writer used original footage from Imperial War Museums' film archive to produce the movie.

He has turned original black and white film from the Western Front into colour and used modern techniques to erase the technical limitations of the archive footage.

He also used original audio from the BBC archives and the voices of war veterans. The project was then colourised and converted to 3D.

Peter Jackson's work promises to allow viewers to see and hear the Great War as the people of the time experienced it.

Will it air on BBC One?

The impressive body of work is planned to be aired on BBC One on Armistice Day.

This year the Armistice Day, which happens on November 11, will happen on a Sunday.

The day is also referred to as Remembrance Day and it marks the agreement between the Allies and Germany to stop fighting back in 1918.
