What are the Gogglebox stars' day jobs?

Gogglebox, Channel 4’s hit show, returned for the 16th series last Friday, September 11 – already ruffling some feathers after comments about who should be quarantining attracted complaints to Ofcom.

The show, which focuses on everyday families and friends reacting to the week’s telly, has become a huge hit, spawning a remake in the US and making household names out of some of the original cast, including TV presenter Scarlett Moffatt.

While most of the cast are busy watching the last weeks’ worth of television, many of them still have day jobs to go to.

What do the Gogglebox cast do for work?

What do the Gogglebox stars do for a living?

Surprisingly, the cast of Gogglebox aren’t sat on their sofas 24/7.

Many of them do have careers outside of the show.

Stephen and Pat

Stephen Webb, 48, has appeared on the show since the beginning – but his couch partner has changed a few times.

He originally appeared with his partner Chris Butland-Steed, but the pair split.

Stephen then appeared with partner Daniel Lustig, until their recent split.

He now appears with his mum, Pat.

When not appearing on the show, Stephen is a hairdresser in Brighton.

The Plummers

The Bristolian brothers were a later addition to the show, joining in the eighth season.

Ellie and Izzi

Blonde Ellie, 28, and her younger sister Izzi, 25, have made a name for themselves appearing on the show – the duo have developed a large social media following, with Ellie recently sharing a snap of her new hair to over 107,000 followers.

Ellie has worked as a hairdresser, and she has an Instagram page about her work with hair styling.

It is not known what Izzi does, although she has two children which could keep her busy.

Sophie and Pete Sandiford

Pete, 26, and Sophie, 24, are a brother and sister duo from Blackpool who joined the show in 2018.

Chatting to The Sun, Pete said: ‘ We’re still gobsmacked that we’re on the show. A woman came up to me saying me and Soph were ace – when people take the time to do that, it means a lot.’

When not on the show, Sophie works as a shop window dresser, while Pete has a job in insurance.

David and Shirley

The married couple from Wales joined Gogglebox in 2015.

They have been together for over 40 years.

When they are not filming, David is a cleaner in a factory and Shirley works in retail.

Gogglebox continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
