The Traitors recently launched on the BBC and has taken the UK by storm with viewers after premiering just two weeks ago. The reality series has been hailed as one of the best ever on British television, taking its cue from the Australian show of the same name. Here’s the lowdown on The Traitors and everything else you need to know about the TV hit.

Will there be another series of The Traitors?

There have been reports The Traitors will be returning for season two with an official announcement said to be coming soon.

A source said a deal had been struck between the BBC and production company Studio Lambert with another series now on the cards.

The insider said about the reported renewal: “It was a no-brainer to commission another series.”

They went on to tell the Daily Star: “Everyone is hoping it will be even more popular by next year and become one of the biggest shows on TV.”

A BBC spokesperson declined to comment when approached by Express.co.uk.

When will The Traitors season 2 air?

Again, according to the report, it will be hitting screens next year at some point.

The first series started airing on November 29 and the second outing could be hitting screens at a similar time in 2023.

Series one consisted of 12 episodes which will be airing across four weeks with three episodes broadcast on consecutive nights.

The broadcast pattern has been keeping viewers on tenterhooks as they are left on cliffhangers at the end of each instalment.

Many fans want the whole show dropped in one go as a boxset on BBC iPlayer, but given the amount of interest the show has generated, it’s likely the BBC will be sticking with this format.

Host Claudia Winkleman is likely to be returning for the new series as she welcomes a new group of contestants to a remote location as they try to win a huge cash prize while trying to catch a Traitor and not get murdered during the night.

The first series featured a total of 22 contestants who were split into Faithfuls and Traitors as they were locked in a battle of wits.

Given the show is reportedly returning, it’s likely the producers will want to up the ante for the second series, so there could well be a format shake-up to keep both audiences and the contestants on their toes.

When will the next episode of The Traitors be on?

The Traitors has been drip-fed to its fans, who are hooked and eager to learn if the Faithfuls will manage to root out the murderous Traitors.

The next set of episodes will start airing on Tuesday, December 13 at 9pm on BBC One with three this week.

The show ended with the Traitors approaching Faithful Alex to join them after Alyssa was unmasked as having the poisoned chalice.

Viewers were left wondering whether she would accept or reject their offer to join with Alex remaining in the dark as to the Traitors’ true identity.

The Traitors season 2: Will there be another series of The Traitors?

All of the contestants will be hoping to raise the prize cash fund through another series of tasks as they have to band together as a team.

However, amid the camaraderie, the Traitors will be murdering someone each night as the contestants choose to banish another person whom they suspect might be doing the killing.

As the show has gone on, it’s clear the paranoia is mounting with the Faithfuls only just managing to get rid of their first Traitor recently.

Whether the Faithfuls can find the rest of the Traitors remains to be seen but unless they change their tactics, it looks like they will be leaving the castle empty-handed.

Here is a list of the remaining episodes of The Traitors:

  • Episode 10. Tuesday, December 20
