Tipping Point fans gutted as Ben Shephard stops hugging players in new series

Fans have long waited for the return of the hit ITV show Tipping Point, but the new series had put in new changes following COVID-19.

Due to social distancing measures, host Ben Shephard, 46, was not allowed to hug the contestants on the show.

Tipping Point fans had waited months to get their teeth into new episodes of the show.

Although excited, fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment at some of the changes ITV bosses had made.

One fan tweeted, "Good news: brand new #TippingPoint is back! Bad news: due to SD’ing, the Ben hugs still gotta wait!"

Host Ben's welcoming persona and quick jokes make him a fan favourite. The host is known by fans for hugging contestants when they go the show.

However, social distancing meant that for some viewers, some of the best parts of the show were missed.

One fan wrote, "Good afternoon Tippers Later then billed but still here. It's a brand new SD'ing Bank Holiday tipping point."

Ben, who also hosts Good Morning Britain, managed to navigate the socially distanced show well, but some fans thought he would be "seething" because he can't hug them like normal.

A fan commented, "Ben seething now, but this being a new episode surely hugging won't be allowed anyway well on camera anyway! #tippingpoint"

Another seemed glad Ben wouldn't be able to hug contestants on the show, "Socially-distanced #TippingPoint looks so odd. Ben will be sad at missing out on the sneaky gropes.

Despite the changes, fans were glad to see Tipping Point return, especially after Ben suffered a dramatic knee injury over the summer.

Ben ruptured his ACL, tore his meniscus, and fractured his leg during a football game meaning he was off work for a few weeks.

As the latest series of Tipping Point aired, fans were glad to end their Bank Holiday weekend with the show's return.

One fan tweeted, "The excitement level I felt at realising this was a new episode of #TippingPoint has made me seriously reevaluate my life."
