The Confessions of Frannie Langton is airing on ITVX from December 8 and it follows previously enslaved Frannie, who is bought from Jamaica to serve a wealthy London couple. She has never experienced true love until she meets her mistress, Madame Benham. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about who is in the cast.

Frannie Langton – Karla-Simone Spence

The character is played by Karla-Simone Spence, a 26-year-old British actress known for Blue Story, Gold Digger and Wannabe.

On what drew her to the Frannie Langton series, she said: “It’s an incredible story.

“I was really intrigued by Frannie’s journey. She’s an incredibly witty, resilient woman.

“As soon as I read the scripts I was like, ‘I have to play her.’ I really wanted this role.”

Madame Benham – Sophie Cookson

Madame shares Frannie’s love of reading and writing, and she sympathises with her plight.

As the pair grow closer over their similarities, their relationship becomes physical.

He has starred in Wanderlust, Inside Men and The Halcyon.

Paying tribute to his co-star Karla-Simone, he said: “There is probably hardly a frame that Karla-Simone is not in.

“She has such self-assurance and confidence, strength in her performance, but is also capable of amazing vulnerability as well.”

Linux – Pooky Quesnel

Linux is George Benham’s housekeeper and she is a cold woman who dislikes Madame.

She also shows a racist hatred towards Frannie, when she joins the household.

She is played by Pooky Quesnel, a 56-year-old actress, screenwriter and singer.

Born Joanna Gabrielle Quesnel, Pooky is her stage name.
