Strictly’s Will Mellor melts fans’ hearts as his children support him in audience

Coronation Street star Will Mellor has melted fans' hearts as his two children Renee, 14, and Jayden, 18, supported him on tonight's Strictly Come Dancing.

In a VT before taking to the dance floor, Will's children could be seen visiting him as he rehearsed his Charleston for tonight's show, where they also showed off their own dance skills.

And as he took to the dance floor, Renee and Jayden could be seen supporting their dad from the audience, with fans taking to social media to discuss the sweet moment.

Presenter Claudia Winkleman also said: "We've all fallen in love with your kids, Tess mentioned they're here tonight" to which the camera panned onto a proud Renee and Jayden.

To which Will sweetly said: "They're my life, obviously anyone who has got kids knows they are why I do everything. I'm glad they're here to support me. They mean everything to me."

Posting to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Will's children watching Dad so cute" and another added: "Aw, Will’s kids are nice."

While others were impressed with how fast Renee and Jayden picked up the Charleston, with one writing: "Loving Will’s kids picking up the Charleston in 10 seconds!"

And it seems the rehearsing paid off with Will finishing top of the leader board on tonight's show with an incredible 38 points.

Following his dance, the judges showered Will and dancing pro partner Nancy Xu with praise, with Head Judge Shirley Ballas saying: "Well, first of all Will, coming off Blackpool you never know really what to expect. Going out there today everything worked well for you. The choreography was brilliant and you didn't miss a lift. Well done."

And Anton Du Beke told the pair: "I think that was one of your best performances of the series. You commit to every move, you nail every move."

The pair scored 38 out of 40, with two marks of 10 from Shirley and Motsi Mabuse, while both Craig Revel Horwood and Anton awarded them scores of nine.

It comes just weeks after Will revealed that the strenuous rehearsing for the show had left him with "purple" feet and knees "held together with sticky tape."

Dancing the Quickstep at the beginning of the month, the actor said he had been using his wife’s foot spa and ice to make sure he is fit for his performance in front of the judges after his demanding dance routine left him with "purple feet."

Appearing on The One Show at the time he said: "It’s been a tough, tough, week. It’s another dance you have to learn, another skill you have to learn. Saturday’s coming no matter what you do so you’ve got to put the work in.

“[My] knees are bad but my feet are purple. I don’t think that’s normal. [My] knees are like a Blue Peter project, I’ve got that much sticky tape and all that on them just holding [my body] together."

He added: “It’s not for old people this show, so my body doesn’t know what’s going on.”
