Strictly’s Katie McGlynn to ‘give up partying’ to focus on winning 2021 series

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Katie McGlynn is planning switch up partying for the gym, according to a pal of the star.

The former Coronation Street actress was pictured looking worse for wear last month after a night out at posh eatery The Ivy in Manchester.

The 28-year-old actress is reportedly giving up nights out for now and will instead focus her time on getting fit for the dancing competition, which is set to hit TV screens later this year.

A close pal to the Hollyoaks actress told The Sun: "Katie is a young woman and loves going out with her pals.

"But those pictures weren't great for her look and she was warned against doing anything which could hamper her chances on Strictly."

Katie, who currently plays Becky in the Channel 4 soap will spend her time getting fit in between filming for the show.

The pal continued: "She is totally focused on the show. Instead of partying, Katie has become a gym junkie and is working out three times a week. Katie knows how physically taxing Strictly can be."

It’s claimed that the actress wants to continue the success of previous soap stars who have competed on the hit BBC show.

Last year saw Eastenders actress Maisie Smith land a place in the final of the dancing competition.

Meanwhile Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher took home the glitterball trophy when he won the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Katie is one of the fifteen celebrities taking part in this year’s series with other big names including comedian Robert Webb, McFly member Tom Fletcher, and Loose Women star Judi Love.

It remains unknown who Katie will be partnered up with on this year’s series, however, bosses have reportedly said that she will not dance with Giovanni Pernice.

The pair were romantically linked together back in 2017 but the Strictly pro is currently dating Love Island star Maura Higgins.

The BBC has confirmed that the new series will kick off in September but with no official start date yet.

However, adverts are already appearing on our screens which could mean the show will be back sooner than we think.

Strictly’s professional dancers Gorka Marquez and Dianne Buswell will now go into a bubble along with Giovanni Pernice to abide alongside Covid-19 rules.
