Strictly’s AJ Pritchard quits acting after backlash to viral Hollyoaks scene

Telly hunk AJ Pritchard has quit acting after just one role.

The former Strictly dancer made his debut in Hollyoaks in 2021 alongside his brother Curtis.

They appeared in nine episodes of the Channel 4 soap and they were slated on social media.

After that experience, AJ doesn’t want to take on any new roles.

He said: “Hollyoaks were so happy with everything. That’s all that matters. I enjoyed it. But I feel like acting isn’t my forte.”

Since Hollyoaks, AJ has focussed on reality TV with appearances on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

And he now has a string of other projects in the pipeline.

He said: “At the moment I want to focus on being fit, healthy and positive. I’m working a bit more on YouTube, which is fun. It goes hand in hand with TV work.

“And I’m launching some new business later this year.”

Meanwhile, brother Curtis has shared his hope of making Strictly Come Dancing history.

The 27-year-old told Daily Star he wants to be the first ever Love Island star to take part on the show – but as a pro.

Like AJ, Curtis is a professional dancer, and he actually appeared in the Irish version, Dancing With The Stars, as a pro before heading into the ITV2 villa.

Curtis said: "They've never taken a Love Islander have they? There's always a first. I could be one of the pro dancers."

Sadly, Curtis may miss out on his dream, as there are rumours that Zara McDermott could become the first Love Island star to do Strictly this year.

She is yet to be announced, but she would join the likes of Angela Scanlon and Layton Williams if she was to be.
