The dancer spoke for the first time about the incident on tonight's Strictly It Takes Two.
Amy confirmed the incident reported in The Sun today, adding: "Things did get a little intense the other day in rehearsals."
She added: "But do you know what we took a half an hour break and got straight to it. I’ve never felt threatened or bullied by Danny. I really want to get this man to Blackpool, and then to the final."
Danny then added: "Well, all I can tell you is that the only reason I’m here, this far, is because of Amy and I would never bite the hand that feeds me.
"I’m more than happy, it’s probably the best dancing we have done in the last couple of days since I have been on the show. And I’m just happy to go along, she is the boss, she wears the pants."
Sources said the Red Dwarf actor, 58, has left Amy Dowden in tears during training — at one point angrily telling her: “I’m the star, not you.”
This week Amy, 27, stormed out and told BBC bosses she’d had enough. A source said: “Danny swears and shouts at Amy a lot. She’s in bits.” After fleeing to a cafe, she rang producers to say she didn't know if she could continue.
It came after sources said the 58-year-old celebrity left her in tears by swearing and shouting at her during training sessions.
Strictly bosses told Danny — best known for sitcom Red Dwarf and crime drama Death In Paradise — they would not tolerate any more bad behaviour following a series of meetings yesterday.
A source said: “Amy’s been crying constantly at the hands of Danny. He gets very angry in the training room and he swears and shouts at her a lot.
“He also makes a lot of snide comments about him being famous and her not. Things have been bubbling away for a while and it all came to a head on Wednesday.”
The insider added: “Amy is so patient and sweet. It’s her dream being on the show. Quite frankly, everyone on Strictly wants Danny to go.”
Last week he hit out at fellow Strictly stars, saying he was on a “different level” to them.
And on Saturday he looked furious after fluffing the quickstep.
Last night on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, Danny admitted he had been “devastated” by his performance.
Neither he or Amy, who sat with him on the sofa, mentioned their rows. There is no suggestion they have become physical.
Last night a BBC source said the duo had patched up their differences. The production insider said: “Tempers often fray in the rehearsal room but things went a bit far this week.
“Danny and Amy were back in training yesterday and are looking forward to tackling the samba in Saturday’s show.”
Danny took to Twitter this morning to joke about getting a final warning by sharing a picture of King Kong while writing: "My new CV".
