Strictly Come Dancing star Lauren Steadman’s disability is her secret weapon, says her dance partner.
But rather than hindering the couple, AJ Pritchard believes Lauren’s condition is an advantage.
He said: “I’d be lying if I didn’t say it was more dangerous for Lauren.
“The routines are risky and lifts have been giving me anxiety and I haven’t been sleeping properly.
“There is no safety bar or back-up in case of a mistake.
“If something goes wrong she will hit the floor hard and with only one hand it’s a lot harder stop stop your face smashing on to the ground.
But he said the competitive pair work extra hard so “it’s an advantage in the long run.”
AJ, 23, added: I’m blown away by Lauren. She is showing the impossible is possible. What she is achieving is sensational.”
Sports star Lauren – who won silver in paratriathlon at the 2016 Rio Summer Paralympics – feared she would get an early exit from the dancing contest after stumbling with AJ on the first show.
And AJ says Lauren’s biggest competition is herself because she is a “perfectionist”.
He explained: “Because Lauren only has one hand I can’t hold her hand when dancing or use her hand to lift her up.
“We have to change choreography a lot. It is especially hard with props.
“It is hard to make certain things work. It is impossible to do the normal way but to find away around it is more rewarding.

“We both thrive under pressure and are vey competitive.
“It is too early to pick who the competition is. Lauren is the biggest competition against herself at the moment because she is such a perfectionist.
“She is on a high at the moment though. She’s on the biggest show on TV, she is a World Champion triathlete for a third time in a row.
“Lauren is an incredible partner. She makes me want to be a better person.”
