Strictly Come Dancing final news 2021 – Rose Ayling-Ellis crowned winner as fans claim Tilly Ramsay was 'snubbed'

ROSE Ayling-Ellis and dance partner Giovanni Pernice picked up the Glitterball trophy last night as they were crowned Strictly champions.

They danced against John Whaite in an emotional finale after AJ dropped out following an injury.

Meanwhile, during the finale, the BBC showed a video montage of the highlights of Strictly Come Dancing this year. However, viewers claim she deserved more air time.

People noticed that footage of the highlights of this year’s series hardly starred the daughter of Gordon Ramsay.

And, in turn, fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment at this.

One said: “I understand Tilly Ramsay has COVID but she should have been included in the highlights and could have recorded her VT from home, it’s almost likes she’s been airbrushed out!

Another person wrote: “It doesn’t make any sense that Tilly doesn’t figure prominently in the montage.”

What has Rose Ayling-Ellis said about being deaf?

Rose has previously spoken about the measures she has to take in order to communicate with others.

She previously told the National Deaf Children's Society that she communicates using a mixture of oral English and British Sign Language (BSL) on the set of EastEnders- and often has to perform in Sign Supported English (SSE).

She said: When I use SSE, it’s like thinking of two languages at the same time while performing, so a BSL monitor checks my BSL is clear on-screen.

"I also have a BSL interpreter on set at all times, paid for by my Access to Work."

Explained: How long have John Whaite & Paul Atkins been dating?

The couple have been together for over a decade, after first meeting on Facebook in 2008 when they were both living in Manchester.

Four years later, John shot to fame as the winner of series three of The Great British Bake Off.

The couple agreed to take the next step in their relationship in 2017, with John taking to Instagram to announce that they were engaged.

On July 20, 2017, John shared a rare picture of the two together, writing "My true love. We've decided to get married. We've fought for these rights and we shall use them".

    Who is John Whaite’s boyfriend?

Paul Atkins works as a graphic designer, and he reportedly lives with fiance John in Leeds.

Paul leads a largely private life – he's absent from social media and only rarely will John share any pictures of the two on his feed.

However, the couple did appear together on the cover of Attitude magazine back in 2014, where they discussed potential wedding plans – though they didn't get engaged until three years later and are not married yet.

In the mag, Paul revealed that he would prefer a "low-key affair" over a big wedding, and that his ideal venue would be an English Country house.

In November 2021, John furiously hit back at an online troll who accused him of turning the BBC1 show "into a Pride event".
