Following Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) attack on evil Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) in Coronation Street, Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) made her way back to the cobbles during tonight’s instalment in an effort to help her beloved gran, but — upon said arrival — she wasted little time in heading to the hospital, where she revealed exactly what she thought of Geoff.
With Geoff in a critical condition following the stabbing, the abuser’s fate was up in the air, but during tonight’s episode, he regained consciousness.
Upon waking up, he wasted little time in manipulating the situation to his advantage, as he painted Yasmeen as a villain — informing all those present that she had tried to kill him.
Alya headed straight to the police station when she arrived back in Weatherfield, where she was greeted by Ryan (Ryan Preston) and Imran (Charlie de Melo) — both of whom revealed what happened in great detail.
Unable to help Yasmeen at that particular moment, Alya set off to the hospital, where she confronted Geoff in a heated altercation — revealing to all those present that he’s been abusing and controlling Yasmeen.
Geoff played the mediator as Tim (Joe Duttine) berated Alya — informing his son that she’s well within her rights to have a go — but the young woman wasn’t buying his tricks.
The policewoman ushered Alya out of the room — but not before she revealed that she wished Yasmeen had finished the job — which seemingly left Geoff rather shaken.
Sally (Sally Dynevor) was somewhat conflicted afterwards, but will she believe Alya was telling the truth?
What’s more, will Alya be able to help Yasmeen by convincing the police that Geoff was abusing her?
Coronation Street continues Friday 8 May at 7:30pm on ITV.
