Major Game of Thrones and Battle of Winterfell spoilers are coming.
Anyone out there still trying to process the truly wild and stressful Battle of Winterfell from last night? Same, and TBD on if it’s even possible to ever fully recover because damn, Arya fu*cking Stark did THAT. Anyway, now that the Night King is shattered into a million tiny pieces and his army and ice dragon died right along with him, it’s time to revisit what exactly happened with Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons and if they’re still alive.
If you watched last night, you know that everything the Night King created died when Arya pulled that dagger-drop maneuver. Yes, that included Viserion, Dany’s dragon that turned into an ice dragon when the Night King threw a spear at him in season 7. Honestly, thank god that dragon is gone because he was totally about to kill Jon Snow last night.
But let’s talk about Dany’s other dragons, which she and Jon rode into a huge snowstorm. Before Viserion died, he was breathing some blue fire up Drogon’s tail and trying to take out Dany at the same time. He also attacked his brother Rhaegal, which is the dragon Jon was riding. Viserion should seriously just be renamed Vicious because he nearly got the best of Rhaegal and made him drop out of the fight for the rest of the night. Thankfully, though, Rhaegal is a trooper and very much alive and is in the trailer for next week’s episode.
As for Drogon, who nearly took an L after Dany landed in the middle of a field with a bunch of wights (le sigh), he’s fine. He also made an appearance in the trailer during the frame when Sansa is looking up to both of the dragons:
All good on the dragon front! Time to take down Cersei Lannister and put Sansa Stark on the throne!
