BGT: Alesha presses golden buzzer for ‘Chicken Shed’
Britain’s Got Talent returned to ITV with Simon Cowell leading the judging panel.
Joined by Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden, they were all left in awe of the theatre group Chickenshed.
Alesha even used her golden buzzer to send the group through to the final, but viewers slammed Simon for his following remark.
This is not the first time this season the judge has claimed he has already met an act.
Viewers took to Twitter to vent their frustration and call the show “staged”.
The youngsters from north London took to the stage to share their unique routine which combined dancers, singers, and other performers.
The inclusive company is open to anyone, and a variety of its members wowed the judges and the audience with their rendition of Naughty Boy and Emeli Sandé’s Wonder.
While many took to Twitter to praise Alesha’s golden buzzer decision, others were not happy when Simon claimed he had known about the group for a long time.
I’m Mr Brightside said: “Simon Cowell needs a golden buzzer for his acting. ‘I’ve known about Chicken Shed for years and always wondered when they would be on #BGT’…When you invite them?”

M.manno said: “Coincidental that Simon knew about them, err #BGT” while Declan Kincaid added: “Simon knew about them! Staged #BGT.”
Maisie wrote: “Oh, what was that Simon? ANOTHER act that you already knew about but didn’t ‘invite’ on, getting the golden buzzer? This show has become far too scripted now #BGT”
Ryan Glendenning added: “Simon: I’ve known about Chicken shed for a long time. So they are already professional in a way.#BGT”
However, others loved the act, with @chickinjeans saying: “Honestly. I don’t cry for months and months. Thought I was made of stone. Then without fail up pops #BGT and I’m a blubbering wreck. Every bl**** week you break me.”
Simon has already revealed he knew some of the acts ahead of their appearance on the show, including the yoyo duo, Toy Toy Toy.
Shu Takada asked “Simon do you remember me?” following his appearance on American’s Got Talent as a solo entrant the year before.
He made it to the semi-finals and received a standing ovation from Simon, before being knocked out ahead of the grand final.
The duo were slammed for having an “unfair advantage” with Tony Coffey fuming: “All BGT is now, is hand picked acts that Simon has brought in from all over the world, better when it first started, Simon is a control freak who has to acts that he knows.#BGT2023”
