Shia LaBeouf's disgraced father 'could soon be off the sex offender list' and return to the US as son faces abuse claims

SHIA LaBeouf's disgraced father "could soon be off the sex offender list" and return to the US as his son continues to face abuse claims.

The actor was recently slammed with some shocking allegations in a lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs.

Back in 1981, Shia's dad Jeffrey LaBeouf, now 72, was placed on the sex offender registry for life after he was convicted of assault with attempt to commit rape for attacking a stranger inside of her cat.

However, a legal expert told Daily Mail that upcoming changes to the sex offender registry may lead to the star's dad returning back to the states following years in Costa Rica.

Attorney Kenneth J. Kahn told the outlet: "Until now it has been a lifetime obligation for sex offenders to register and the only way to get out of it in California was through a certificate of rehabilitation or a pardon from the governor.

"That is set to change for some people on January 1 next year."

Kahn continued: "If I was Jeffrey's lawyer I would be saying to him, ''Let's get the petition process going, you've been living with this for decades and you've done your time.'

"We don't know exactly what the tier system is going to look like yet but as long as he has violated no other law it is possible he may be able to come back to live here without being put on the Megan's Law website."

Megan's law allows the public to view information about a sex offender's residence, the crime they committed as well as their mugshot.

The lawyer also added: "I think the new system would absolutely affect his situation and when it gets stabilized I would want to establish what tier he is in and argue for removing him from the list."

Back in 2018, Shia played a fictionalized version of his dad in the film Honey Boy.

All this comes after Jeffrey's son was accused by Twigs – real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett -of choking her, giving her an STD, and inflicting emotional abuse on her.

In court papers obtained by The Sun, Twigs, 32, claimed the Hollywood star “knowingly transmitted a serious illness to Tahliah, without ever informing her beforehand that he suffered from this dreadful malady.”

She claimed she began to experience “unusual and painful physical symptoms” around March 2019.

When she confronted Shia, 34, about her symptoms, he “admitted that he suffered from a sexually transmitted disease which had been diagnosed years earlier.”

The British singer also claimed in court papers: "LaBeouf admitted that he had never told Tahliah about his condition before, even though they had been sexually intimate for many months.

“Further, LaBeouf admitted that he had experienced a flareup of his disease’s symptoms in December 2019, but worked to hide his outward symptoms from Tahliah by applying makeup…"

In response to the claims, Shia said in a statement: “I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say…”

After the head-turning allegations, popular hitmaker Sia, 44, also claimed the Even Stevens alum "conned" her into an adulterous relationship.

She wrote: "I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single.

"I believe he's very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself- stay safe, stay away."

The Chandelier singer also reached out to Twigs and said: "I love you ⁦@FKAtwigs⁩ This is very courageous and I'm very proud of you."

Shia and Sia worked together in 2015 for her music video for Elastic Heart alongside then 13-year-old dancer Maddie Zieger.

The entertainer has now replaced Shia with Kate Hudson for her latest movie Music.
