This evening, it was time for another celebrity to be booted out the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! castle as it was up to ITV viewers to save their favourite campmates. Upon Ruthie’s exit, she joined Geordie duo Ant and Dec to look back over her time on the show. But she soon became emotional as she explained how she had loved the opportunity to be able to speak to other mothers during her stint as she detailed what it was like living as a single mother and being away from her family while in camp.

Tonight, it was West End star Ruthie Henshall who became the second celebrity to leave the competition.

She joined Ant and Dec and the pair picked up on how she had managed to “drop the mask” she had been holding onto.

“It’s the first time in a long time the campmates allowed you to drop the mask, did you expect that?” Dec asked.

“Not at all,” Ruthie admitted, “It’s amazing the sort of epiphanies you have in there. You’ve got no devices, nothing to take your mind of things and you get into conversations you never thought you would – with cameras all around you.

“I felt very much, ‘I go into the outside world and I’m Ruthie,’ and that’s not totally who I am it’s a part of who I am.

“Today, I felt the most myself I’ve felt this whole time,” she added before going on to detail her experience as a single mother before reuniting with her daughters.

Ruthie became tearful as she added: “As a mother, all you think about are the things you do wrong, you never think about all the things you do right.

“You have to be good cop, bad cop and try to figure out how to deal with each situation, sometimes you just wish there was someone else there to help deal with it.”
