Ricky Gervais has already started writing series three of After Life according to his co-star Ashley Jensen.
The series, which follows the life of Tony has he struggles to deal with life after the death of his wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman) shot to number one after its release.
The Ugly Betty actress spoke to Alex Jones and Rylan Clarke-Neal on Friday’s The One Show about the hit Netflix series.
Speaking about season three Ashley told the hosts: ‘I know a third series is already on its way.
‘And I think Ricky has tapped a few words into his computer or quill or whatever he uses.’
The main man himself also recently spoke out about season three returning although he has told fans it is ‘the last one’.
Announcing it on Twitter, he said: ‘Because so many of you watched #AfterLife2 so quickly and made it Number 1 again, the nice people at @Netflix have suggested that I get off my fat a**e and do another season. This is all your fault.’
He later added in a live chat on Twitter that this will definitely be the last season of the show, joking that he’ll ‘take Tambury out with a meteor’ to make sure he can’t come back.
This will be the first time in Ricky’s career history that he’s broken with his ‘two seasons and a special’ tradition – with The Office, Extras and Derek all following that format.
He previously spoke to Metro.co.uk about the possibility of a third outing for Tony and his friends in the quiet village of Tambury, saying he would only do it ‘if he felt it was wanted’.
‘It’s a really daunting task, a third series,’ Ricky admitted. ‘Particularly when you put all your eggs in one basket.
‘You put everything into everything you do and you burn bridges and you work yourself into corners, because it was right at the time.
‘So it’s really got to be wanted.’
After Life is available now on Netflix and The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
