Richard Madeley RETURNS to GMB after long break and comforts Kate Garraway after Derek's fight for life in hospital | The Sun

RICHARD Madeley was back on Good Morning Britain today after a long break off-screen.

The presenter returned to the breakfast show and supported his co-host Kate Garraway, who has been off work caring for her sick husband Derek.

The Sun revealed the covid-haunted 54-year-old was fighting for his life after developing sepsis.

Richard reached out to comfort Kate as she told of her "dramatic" last few weeks.

He has also been absent from the breakfast show, having spent three weeks abroad.

But he admitted being "out of touch" with goings on – especially with Love Island.

"I've been abroad for the last two or three weeks," said Richard.

"So I've been out of touch because my comms weren't working very well. I've lost touch with Love Island."

Kate, who has been missing from Good Morning Britain since July 9, told viewers today: "Derek came out of hospital three weeks ago and we hadn't had any medical eruptions.

"Then we were on air and I got a phone call saying 'we are really worried'. He was just really unwell.
