Regarding Danny Boyle's Pistol, Johnny told The Sun about his expectations surrounding the retelling of the group's rise to fame and what he thinks of his bandmates.

He said: "I don’t really want to watch it but I will need to fact-check it."

"I have not seen one single second of it. Not any script, I’ve been completely ostracised."

Johnny further added: "To be misrepresented in such a rude manner is unacceptable."

"If there was any truth in it, they wouldn’t have kept it from me."

Meanwhile, actor Anson Boon is looking forward to what the real-life Johnny thinks of his portrayal.

The Pistol star told Yahoo News: "I think the reason I'm such a big fan of John and so many people are is because of what a contrarian he is."

"That's what made him so special and so unique at the time, I just really wanted to do him justice."

"I'm truly such a big fan of him and I just felt this intense responsibility to do him the justice that I think he deserves."

Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious

Louis Patridge stars in Pistol as the band's late bassist, Sid Vicious.

Vicious was 21 years old when he was found dead from a drug overdose on February 2, 1979.

When it came to his portrayal of the late musician, Louis Partridge told Digital Spy: "It is helplessly tragic, it's completely awful, and all the more tragic when you realize how young they all were."

"I love that we start with the innocent Sid – that sort of new puppy being released into the world, just sort of wanting to grab everything and do everything."

The actor revealed: "Then you sort of see him spiral and become old for his years and just take the completely wrong path, basically."

Maisie Williams as Pamela Rooke

Along with curating several looks donned by The Sex Pistols and other punk-rock acts of that era, model Pamela Rooke was best known for her work with Vivienne Westwood.

The late model is portrayed by Game of Thrones star, Maisie Williams.

Despite Johnny Rotten's reservations about the series, Pamela and Maisie had a good rapport while the former advised the cast and crew on set.

The late punk rock style icon told Metro before her death on April 3, 2022: "She’s delighted, she absolutely loves it!"

"We’ve had some really good talks about personal things – lifestyle, my childhood, just embellishing on what the book says, really."

Pamela sang Maisie's praises: "It’s a credit to her, that’s why she’s become such a good actress, a well-known actress from humble beginnings."

Other actors appearing on the roster for Danny Boyle's Pistol are:
