Phillip Schofield panics as pants ‘fall apart’ during This Morning dance scene

In the middle of a dazzling dance routine, Phillip Schofield saw his pants fall apart on Wednesday's This Morning.

The presenter, 58, had been fashioned a pair of glittery tinsel pants by his pal Holly Willoughby in an effort to invite some festive cheer into the studio.

Holly, 39, donned a silver sparkling dress for the occasion, as Phil admitted: "Look at that, look at you shimmering. I felt a little bit left out."

Inspired, Holly jumped to the rescue with a stream and tinsel, and said: "I've been quite nifty with a little bit of glitter."

Stepping out from behind the table, Phil showed off his jazzy tinsel pants, showcasing Holly's handiwork.

Inspired by the music playing in the studio – George Michael's Careless Whisper – he leaped into a dance routine.

Swaying in time to the music, Phil's pants suddenly started to unravel, as one string of tinsel started dangling between his legs.

He exclaimed: "Oh no!"

Cradling her head in her hands, Holly demanded: "Take it off for goodness' sake!"

"You put it on me," Phil pointed out.

Holly then admitted she hadn't tested whether the tinsel pants were structurally sound, saying: "I hadn't tested it for dancing."

"I hadn't planned to dance," laughed Phil.
