Paul Gascoigne won’t see son Regan skating during Dancing On Ice’s grand final

Dancing On Ice star Regan Gascoigne has revealed that his footballer father Paul Gascoigne, also known as 'Gazza', will not see him skate live in Sunday's final.

Gazza, considered one of England's greatest ever goal scorers, will not be in the audience – with Regan's mum Sheryl and sister Bianca cheering him on instead.

Regan's father had previously been in the audience when Regan skated alongside his professional partner Karina Manta to Singing In The Rain – with Gazza becoming visibly emotional as he wiped tears from his eyes.

The famous footballer also told Dancing On Ice host Holly Willoughby that he was proud of his son after watching the performance.

Speaking during a separate episode of Dancing On Ice, Regan was shown meeting up with his father after a rehearsal on the ice rink.

During the scenes, he said: "My dad is so supportive," with father Gazza adding: "The minute you were born I was proud son."

Gazza also welled up with tears as he said: "I just wanted to tell you how proud I am," before father and son gave each other a hug.

The emotional moments have followed an incredible journey for Regan during Dancing On Ice, which has seen him beat stars including Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor and S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens to reach the final.

Speaking ahead of the final on Sunday night, Regan told Sun Online: "Now I'm here sat between Brendan and Kimberly – I'm like 'what the hell, how am I here?'

"I've got family and friends who haven't even seen me perform.

"To hear their feedback and for them to see how much I love it is really special. That means more to me than anything."

Regan Gascoigne is currently the bookmaker's favourite to win the popular ITV skating competition, where he will compete against finalists Brendan Cole and Kimberly Wyatt.

However, when asked about being the bookmaker's favourite and the 'dark horse' of the competition, he added: "I don't think of it in that way at all. I'm just loving it and really enjoying it.

"I'm embracing every moment of it, but I don't think I'm the dark horse."
