First scene of Episode 1 of Frasier
Frasier is getting a revival on Paramount+ on October 12, just in time for the orginal show’s 30th anniversary on September 16.
The hit NBC sitcom originally premiered in 1993, running for 11 seasons, and became the most Emmy-winning series of all time with 37 wins, until that record was smashed by HBO’s Game of Thrones in 2016.
However, Frasier still holds the record for most wins by a comedy series and the new reboot will undoubtedly earn the series more.
It will feature some old and new faces, including British Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst as friend Alan Cornwall, Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son Frederick ‘Freddy’ Crane, Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Toks Olagundoye as Olivia and Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith Sternin.
However, not everyone has returned to reprise their old characters, including the visibly missing David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother, Niles Crane.
So, where are the original cast members of Frasier today?

Daphne Moon – Jane Leeves
Jane Leeves starred as Daphne Moon, a physiotherapist who cared for Frasier’s father and ultimately fell in love with Frasier’s brother, Niles.
She went on to appear in Hot in Cleveland, Desperate Housewives, Misconceptions, Crowded, The Great Indoors and The Resident on Fox.
Leeves joined the cast of The Resident in 2018.
She has said that she is so loyal to the show that she would not return to Frasier if it meant she had to leave.
Leeves told Entertainment Weekly in 2021 of a potential Frasier reboot: “I have no idea, but I won’t be leaving The Resident to do that if it happens. There’s a lot of pieces that have to come together to make [the revival] happen.”
Niles Crane – David Hyde Pierce
David Hyde Pierce portrayed Frasier’s younger brother Niles Crane.
Like his co-stars, Hyde Pierce had no problem getting great roles following the end of Frasier.
He had a successful return to the stage, where he’s had roles in a number of Broadway productions, including a revival of Hello Dolly! with Bette Midler.
The 64-year-old actor also appeared in Down with Love, Wet Hot American Summer, The Good Wife and played Julia Child’s husband in HBO’s Julia.
David Hyde Pierce is also not part of the revival.
He previously told Vulture: “That whole time of my life, the writing on those shows, the actors I got to work with—all of that is deeply important to me. And I would never disrespect that in such a way as to say just offhandedly, ‘Oh, no, thanks. I’m not going to do that again.’ It’s too valuable to me.”
However, he added that because it is so valuable to him, he “wouldn’t do it just to do it.”
Roz Doyle – Peri Gilpin
Peri Gilpin played Roz Doyle, the producer on Frasier’s radio show.
She later starred in Scorpion, Family Reunion, Kevin Can F**k Himself, Broad City, Break a Hip and Station 19.
The actress also has credits on Desperate Housewives and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Martin Crane – John Mahoney
The late actor John Mahoney played Martin Crane, Frasier and Niles’ father
Before his death in 2018, he appeared in Hot in Cleveland, Foyle’s War, In Treatment, ER, Dan in Real Life and Burn Notice.
Bob ‘Bulldog’ Briscoe – Dan Butler
Dan Butler played Frasier’s fellow radio presenter Bob ‘Bulldog’ Briscoe.
He went on to star in The Mist, The Fan, Banshee, All My Life and Tales of the City.
Gil Chesterton – Edward Hibbert
Edward Hibbert played Gil Chesterton.
The actor’s credits include Blue Bloods, Grace and Frankie on Netflix, and movie The Prestige.
Lilith – Bebe Neuwirth
Bebe Neuwirth played Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith and mother of the pair’s son, Freddy.
She will guest star in the reboot at some point in the 10 episodes and was the first past cast-member to confirm their return.
Since wrapping the original Frasier, Neuwirth has enjoyed roles on HBO Max’s Julia and on The Good Fight.
