Nigel Farage, 56, joined Charlotte Hawkins, 45, and Ben Shephard, 45, after putting his support behind President Donald Trump, 74, at a campaign rally in the US earlier this week. The politician spoke to the Good Morning Britain hosts about why he believes Mr Trump is the right person to lead America and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the discussion turned into a heated debate when the Brexit Party member believed Hawkins had got the reason why he travelled in the midst of the global health crisis wrong.

The moment came when the host said: “I know you’ve been given a national interest exemption from the US travel ban to be able to be there.

“What’s going to happen when you get back? Will you be quarantining?” she asked, with Farage quickly interrupting and shutting her down.

“No, no, no,” he said as he shook his head at the presenter’s claim, going on to correct her statement.

“That is not true. The national interest exemption I got was when I came to Tulsa a few months ago. I have come here on a journalistic visa.

“I have been sponsored by the Daily Telegraph just like any other journalist,” he continued before the news anchor asked him again if he was going to quarantine when he returned to the UK.

“Yes I will have to do that, absolutely,” Farage added before the interview continued between the politician and the hosts.
