New couple shock in Coronation Street as demon child gets sweet love story | The Sun

HOPE Stape has shown she's capable of stirring up trouble in Weatherfield.

But Coronation Street viewers will soon see her in another light as she embarks on her first pre-teen romance.

Despite her mean streak which sometimes led to her wreaking havoc in the cobbles, the young girl played by Isabella Flanagan made a friend out of Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan).

The youngsters initially connected when Sam was mourning the loss of his mother Natasha Blakeman, who was murdered by Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

As a result of his trauma, Sam experienced mutism and Hope took it upon herself to help him.

She was the one to get him talking again as she communicated with him through a pair of walkie-talkies.

The pair began talking in separate rooms, helping Sam come out of his shell without feeling overwhelmed with people's responses and reactions.

Although Hope has been given a bad rap by viewers and Weatherfield residents, she's shown a softer side by growing closer to Sam throughout the months.

Sam, who clearly brings out the best of Hope, even helped her with her plan to avenge Cilla the chinchilla's death.

But in scenes due to air next week on ITV, Hope and Sam decide to take their close friendship to the next level as they agree to become boyfriend and girlfriend.

The upcoming storyline was teased by soap boss Iain MacLeod during a recent appearance on ITV's Loose Women.

According to the producer, the Manchester-based drama will be focusing on the challenges Hope will be facing as she slowly enters her pre-teen years.

"We’re going to be building a friendship with her and Sam that will verge on a very innocent pre-teen romance a little bit and they try to navigate those waters", Iain announced.

"Yes okay, it will always have a Hope twist on it because she’s maybe wired a bit differently than most kids her age."

"She won’t necessarily get help, but we’ll see a more down-to-earth grounded side of her."

Could this mean her villainous days are finally behind her?

In recent months, Hope not only vowed to keep her serial killer father's legacy alive but was also shown destroying Phill Whittaker's car with a digger upon finding out he was planning to write a book about John Stape.
