Medical drama series New Amsterdam has been keeping viewers across the globe after it came to Netflix recently. Many fans of the show want to know if the series will be back for a fourth outing. Express.co.uk has the lowdown on the series.
Will there be another series of New Amsterdam?
Yes, is the short answer after the show got a three-season order from network NBC.
The show got the triple renewal after showing strong ratings for the US broadcaster.
Season three is going to be airing very soon on the network from March 2.
The series first aired in 2018 and takes its cue from the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Dr. Eric Manheimer.
Dr Manheimer was the medical director at Bellevue Hospital and the book is his memoir of this time.
When will New Amsterdam season 4 air?
As season three is still yet to go out, it’s not clear when the fourth outing will be hitting screens.
However, it could be sometime in 2022 after season three was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The continuing impact of the global health crisis and the rate of infection could also affect filming on season four of New Amsterdam.
An episode count for season three is yet to be confirmed and it’s unclear how many instalments could be in the fourth cycle.
But the show will be airing on a weekly basis with a midseason hiatus like many American shows.

What will happen in New Amsterdam season 4?
Fans can expect more of the same from the hospital-set show as life and death hang in the balance each week with the staff working flat out.
The overall story arcs will be dependent on the direction season three takes, so it’s too early to say what will occur plot-wise.
The third outing tackles the coronavirus pandemic as well as inequalities in the healthcare system which leads some patients to fall through the cracks.
Dr Max Goodwin (played by Ryan Eggold) will be leading the cast again as the audience follows his journey and efforts to improve the medical system.
Who will be in the cast of New Amsterdam season 4?
Bar any major deaths or departures in the third outing, leading the cast again will be Eggold as Dr Goodwin.
Joining him will be Janet Montgomery as Dr. Lauren Bloom and former Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman as Dr. Helen Sharpe.
Also back in the frame is likely to be Jocko Sims as Dr. Floyd Reynolds, Tyler Labine as Dr. Ignatius ‘Iggy’ Frome, and Anupam Kher as Dr. Vijay Kapoor.
There are also likely to be some guest stars joining for the individual episodes of the drama.
