Michelle Keegan thinks Corrie’s Lucy Fallon could replace her on the BBC One drama Our Girl.
The actress is leaving at the end of the new series which launches tomorrow.
She has played army medic Georgie Lane for the past four seasons but believes the show can carry on with a new lead.
Asked if Lucy – who recently quit Corrie – could step into her shoes, she said: “Of course! In fact any Corrie girl would be a good choice, they’re strong girls! There are a lot of good actresses out there who would be an amazing addition to the show. I say just go for it.”
Our Girl has form for changing its lead star.
When it launched in 2013, EastEnder Lacey Turner had the main role as Molly Dawes and when she quit in 2015, ex Street star Michelle took over.
Our Girl has also had some critics claiming its leading actresses are “too pretty” to be soldiers.
But Michelle hit back: “It’s really annoying because when you’re doing a job like this you’re trying to represent the military yet people are just focusing on how you look and if you’ve got mascara on.
Michelle Keegan sends pulses racing in plunging two-piece at Our Girl premiere
“It’s so frustrating. We have military advisors around us the whole time,
we put in all the hours, all the work – and that’s all I get? I’ve met female medics who are like ‘Of course we wear mascara’. I don’t see what the issue is!’
