Michelle Keegan has revealed that she felt pressured into doing photoshoots for lad’s magazines while starring in Coronation Street.
The actress — who portrayed Tina McIntyre on the long-running ITV soap — opened up on the matter in a new interview with Cosmopolitan.
Michelle revealed that she was encouraged to appear on the cover of lad’s magazines, but regrets it now.
She said: ‘It wasn’t something that I necessarily wanted to do. I remember feeling very shy because I was really young.
‘Now that I’m older, I realise that it is OK to say no to something that you don’t feel 100% happy with.
‘You don’t have to do it because you think you have to do it.’
Michelle — who evidently enjoyed her lengthy stint on Corrie — was full of praise for the team at Coronation Street.
She added: ‘I will say, this is no reflection on Coronation Street.
‘I had a brilliant network and team and the PR team were fabulous and really looked after me and it was a different time back then. Everyone did it at that time.’
Michelle made her first appearance as Tina in Coronation Street in 2008.

During her stint on the soap, she featured in many a huge storyline, including her relationship with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd).
The character was killed off in a dramatic storyline in 2014.
Coronation Street continues Friday 3 July at 7:30pm on ITV.
