Manhunt season two follows on from the success of season one, which dramatised the events of how Levi Bellfield was convicted of killing Millie Dowler. The new four-part ITV drama will follow the events of how DCI Colin Sutton managed to bring down the ‘Night Stalker’, Delroy Grant. Here is everything you need to know about which famous faces are playing the real-life people on the TV show.

Who is in the cast of Manhunt season 2?

Martin Clunes as DCI Colin Sutton

Critically acclaimed actor Martin is reprising his role as former Metropolitan Police detective Sutton to examine the new case.

Following the success of convicting Bellfield, Sutton was brought on to the case to see if a “pair of rest eyes” could shine some new light on the investigation into the ‘Night Stalker’.

It took Sutton three years out of the 11 years the case went on for to located the suspect and to have Grant arrested.

On reprising the role, Martin has said: “I sort of resisted the offers of detective dramas, because they don’t float my boat. But this was so different – it was a story worth telling, I think.

“It’s a story worth telling, which they come along every now and again – very seldom in my direction, but this certainly felt like it was a story worth telling.”

“Because of the content, because of the way the crimes were solved,” Martin continued, adding he was “interested” to see how a murder squad operates.

The events of the drama are derived from the diary entries Sutton kept during his 30-year career on the force.

Bringing Grant to justice would be Sutton’s last case, making it highly unlikely Martin will reprise the role again.

Martin is best known for starring in show’s such as Men Behaving Badly, Doc Martin and he has been a guest presenter on Have I Got News For You 13 times.

Jude Akuwudike as Delroy Grant

Having held roles on shows such as Silent Witness, Holby City, Law and Order UK and Death in Paradise, Jude will be taking on Grant in the four-part thriller.

Speaking on the ‘Night Stalker’ and why he was chosen to be the subject of the Manhunt sequel, writer Ed Whitmore said: “When Manhunt did so well, and we were excited about the idea of doing another story based around another of Colin”s cases.

“The Night Stalker was the obvious candidate. It was a huge case involving a big London wide manhunt, and it was just a no brainer that this would be the second season show.”

Although a trailer has been released, there has been no sneak peek of the actor in the titular role as of yet.

Claudie Blakley as Louise Sutton

Returning alongside Martin is Claudie, who played Sutton’s supportive wife during the first season and she will be doing so again.

In the trailer for the new episodes, Louise is heard voicing her doubts over whether the ‘Night Stalker’ would be captured after 17 years unapprehended.

Viewers will recognise Claudie from a number of her television and film roles, including playing characters in Silent Witness, Midsomer Murders and Granchester.

One of her most beloved roles was playing Emma Timmins in the BBC drama, Lark Rise To Candleford.

She is also the daughter of Lin Blakley who played Pam Coker on EastEnders.

David Witts as D.C Adam Spier

One of the newcomers to the series will be former EastEnders actor, David, who is a member of Operation Minstead.

The actor is best known for portraying the role of Joey Branning on the BBC soap from 2012 to 2013 before his character left to live away from Walford.

He was also a series regular on the American teenage drama, Recovery Road, which aired on the Freeform network.

This will be one of his most high-profile roles since the actor decided to leave EastEnders eight years ago.

Manhunt begins tonight at 9pm on ITV.
