Lucifer season 5B theories: Ella to discover Lucifer’s devil face in shock sibling twist

Lucifer: Netflix release preview teaser of conversation with God

All but one of Lucifer’s loyal human friends now know his true identity as the devil. However, when the show makes its long awaited return to Netflix this year, a returning character from Ella Lopez’s past could be the key for her finally making the discovery herself.

Fans are predicting the return of guest character Jay Lopez (played by Rey Valentin) in Lucifer’s next season could open the way for Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) to discover a shocking truth.

Ella’s brother Jay came to town in season three, and was revealed to be a diamond thief hoping to pull off a big score in LA.

Luckily, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) caught the criminal in the act and promised Jay his next scheme wouldn’t go unpunished.

The shady fraudster hasn’t been seen since, but one fan suggested Jay could make his return, either in the second half of season five or Lucifer’s sixth and final season.

They recently took to Reddit with the theory, and explained how his return could finally pave the way for Ella to find out the truth about her devilish friend’s real identity.

Redditor salamilidsalamilid posted: In season three they introduced us to Ella’s brother Jay, and a diamond thief, and at the end Lucifer said ‘If you ever disappoint her again I’ll come for you’.

“My theory is we’ll see Jay again doing crime, and when Lucifer finds him he’ll show his devil face and Ella sees it, too.

“Much like how Dan saw Lucifer’s face when he was showing Charlie his devil face.”

Thanks to the twisted schemes of Lucifer’s twin brother Michael, Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) witnessed the devil’s true face when he realised it relaxed Amenadiel’s (D.B. Woodside) brother, Charlie.

Normally, Lucifer avoids showing his true face in public, but occasionally lifts his human facade when he comes across a particularly unpleasant criminal in need of a good scare.

If Jay does make his return in an upcoming episode, Lucifer’s disappointment that Ella’s brother has returned to a life of crime could be enough to make him whip out his devil face.

So far, Ella has been in denial about Lucifer’s true self, maintaining that her crime-solving friend is simply a dedicated method actor.

Still, the sight of his fiery red devil face should be enough to convince the plucky CSI that Lucifer is exactly who he says he is.

However, other fans weren’t so convinced by the proposed twist, especially after the series used essentially the same format to let Dan in on Lucifer’s secret.

One viewer commented: “It’s a plausible theory, but I think it’s unlikely they’ll repeat the same type of reveal. Also, hopefully Jay is reformed and was scared straight, anyway!”

Meanwhile, more ‘Lucifans’ were keen to see Ella learn the truth about her ghostly friend Azrael (Charlyne Yi), who made an appearance at the end of season three.

“I would like her to meet Azrael before she knows who Lucifer is,” one fan said, to which another replied: “Ooo that could be good!

“Maybe she finds out who ‘Rae Rae’ really is and therefore also finds out Lucifer is the actual devil. Would be really interesting.”

While Ella hasn’t been fully indoctrinated into Lucifer’s supernatural world, that didn’t stop her making friends with the Angel of Death after escaping a near-fatal accident as a child.

Neither Charlene Yi or Rey Valentin have been confirmed to be making their return just yet, but their reappearance in season five or six could be instrumental in Ella’s inevitable discovery.
