Love Island’s Liam says he ‘wasn’t even 10% of my normal self’ before quitting villa

Liam Llewellyn has opened up about why he left Love Island and admitted he “didn’t want to be in the villa” if he couldn’t be “100%” himself.

The 22-year-old made a shock exit from the ITV2 dating show just five days into the series and has now shared more details about why he left.

He made the heartfelt admission to his fellow Islanders around the fire pit, but he has now spoken about the decision in more depth on his Instagram.

In an Ask Me Anything set of stories over the weekend, Liam addressed some of viewers burning questions about why he left the show.

The reality star admitted he “couldn’t really relax” and was “overthinking everything” while he was in the villa and it was “tough.”

"Whilst in the villa I was overthinking everything massively and couldn't really relax,” he began, “which resulted in me not feeling like myself, and I didn't want to be in the villa if I couldn't offer 100%.

"I waited to see if that would change, but in the end it just got worse, so I acted on it.”

He added: "I think the villa is a tough place to be if your head isn't 100% in it, and I know I couldn't have sent someone home, knowing I personally wasn't feeling even 10% of my normal self."

His statement to his 233,000 followers echoed what Liam told his fellow Islanders in the villa before he left.

In the suspiring admission, Liam said: "We all came here for the same sort of reason but I haven’t really been feeling like I’ve been giving 100% Liam. I know what 100% Liam looks like and I am miles off that

"I literally feel like you’re missing out on 90% of what normal Liam offers.

"I’ve been thinking long and hard, like this isn't a spur of the moment type thing. Trying to find someone to leave the villa with that you care about, like obviously, that's a goal isn’t it?"

Then he dropped the bombshell: "So yeah, I’ve made the decision that I am gonna leave the villa. It’s been a breeze, it’s been an absolute ball, you are all unreal."

Despite spending less than a week on the show, viewers were emotional about Liam’s shock exit.

One tweeted: "Nah no one understands how sad I am over Liam leaving. Someone give him a big hug."

As another echoed: “Liam got us all crying!”

However, viewers wholeheartedly supported his reasoning, as one added: "I understand Liam. If you’re not happy somewhere leave."
