Love Island viewers horrified by Tommy Fury's cooking as he serves up 'abomination' to Maura

LOVE Island hunk Tommy Fury's cooking skills have once again been blasted by viewers after he presented new girl Maura Higgins with an "abomination" of a starter during last night's episode.

The professional boxer has already come under fire for his lack of culinary prowess on the ITV2 series, having needed his fellow Islanders' help to make peppermint tea and an omelette for Molly-Mae Hague.

The sports star found himself up against it once again when he was picked by 28-year-old Maura to create an impressive starter for their date.

In the end, Tommy, 20, created an unappetising dish of white bread with slices of heart-shaped cheese, which was topped off with a duo of ketchup and mayonnaise.

When the boxer presented the plate, Tommy acknowledged his woeful starter: "Please don't judge me. There's a lot of effort that's gone into that."

Although some tried to commend his attempts, the majority of viewers mocked Tommy's creation branding it an "abomination" and likening his creation to something from the flop Fyre Festival.

One viewer said: "Nah I can't. What abomination has Tommy put on the plate?"

A second added: "Tommy's first course has me creasing I can't BREATHE."

A third penned: "Did Tommy just bring over heart shaped cheese on bread with mayo and ketchup for a starter, this was the best you could whip up?"

"Tommy handing Maura bread with a slice of cheese red sauce and mayo on it made my night," another viewer shared.

While Love Island's official account said: "Wait, was Tommy the chef at Fyre Festival?"

Despite his starter looking less than desirable, Tommy claimed Maura "caught his eye the moment she walked in" on last night's instalment – although he previously told Molly-Mae she had nothing to worry about.

The pair hit it off due to their common interests and background as Maura discussed her native Ireland and Tommy shared his Irish heritage.

Maura said: "[I'm from] County Longford. Have you heard of it?" to which Tommy replied "Yeah. I've got Irish in me." The model added: "And you're a boxer? You know I'm a ring girl."

Tommy laid his cards on the table telling Maura: "You look absolutely stunning" before he went back to the kitchen and said Anton: "I could look into those eyes all day."

The athlete appeared to have forgotten all about Molly-Mae, who he had previously told that she had nothing to worry about ahead of the date.

In an explosive teaser for tonight's episode, the boxer told influencer Molly-Mae it seemed like she was "in love" with him judging by her reaction to the dinner.
