Love Is Blind's Kelly cries through apology over George Floyd comments

Love Is Blind’s Kelly Chase cried throughout an apology video addressing her ‘ignorant’ comments following the death of George Floyd and the protests that have swept the globe.

The star of the Netflix dating show came under fire by fans and fellow cast mate Carlton Morton after she condemned people taking to the streets seeking justice after George died when a white officer held him down by pressing a knee into his neck last Monday in Minneapolis.

Kelly also used the derogatory term ‘coloured people’ and posted about All Lives Matter.

‘I created pain and used words that were offensive and I meant no ill-intent from what I shared in my Instagram story today,’ Kelly began.

‘I was trying to create impact and it backfired,’ she tearfully told the camera. ‘I want to take this time to acknowledge my wrongdoings.

‘I want to take accountability and acknowledge what was done today.

‘I used the terms coloured people and All Lives Matter and I realise how ignorant that was, how uneducated I am and I’m really, truly sorry for the pain that I caused today because I realise that there are people hurting because of what happened with George Floyd and every other black person who is scared.’

Kelly also revealed that she’d reached out to Carlton to apologise directly.

‘It was definitely coming from a place of love and that I am truly, truly sorry,’ she said. ‘I never meant to offend you, hurt you, hurt anyone from the black community.

‘I am just very, very sorry. I am educating myself on what I can do to help.’

Protests have been held across the world in response to the killing of George by police and there are many peaceful marches planned in central London.
