Loose Women's Coleen Nolan says toyboy romance 'got her through lockdown' but he couldn't handle her fame

COLEEN Nolan has said her toyboy romance helped her during lockdown but it ended because he struggled with her fame.

The 56-year-old started dating the mystery man, who was eight years younger than her, last year but the couple called it quits after just over six months of speaking on the phone.

Speaking about the break up, Coleen told MailOnline: “We met a couple of times before the lockdown but then spoke constantly for six months, and it was all lovely and then just as the restrictions eased, he couldn’t handle who I was!

“To be honest, it got me through lockdown really, because it was exciting and nice to feel attractive again and flirting again and all of those things.”

She continued: “But it wasn’t love at that point. To be fair to him, he’s just an ordinary guy and quite private, and he’s got kids of his own from his last marriage, I think probably in hindsight he just got cold feet and thought 'I don’t know if she can handle what she does'.”

Coleen admitted that the split blindsided her because he just sent her a text saying he couldn’t handle it – the day before they were supposed to meet up.

She went on to say that whoever she dates next will have to be able to deal with her fame because she likes to share her life on Loose Women.

However, the experience hasn’t put her off and she’s already dating again.

She recently said on Loose Women: “I am back out there and I'm already speaking to somebody very lovely.

"I'll let you know when things progress…"

Coleen has had a number of relationships in the public eye.

She was previously married to EastEnders star Shane Richie from 1990 to 1999.

They share two sons together – Jake Roche and Shane Roche Jr.

The star married husband number two Ray Fensome in 2006, but the two went their separate ways in 2017.

Coleen is also mum to 20-year-old Ciara, who she and Ray welcomed into the world in 2001.
