The upcoming series of the BBC cop drama will be finally hitting TV screens later this week, with fans hoping that it will finally reveal the identity of ‘H’. Although, in the lead up to series six, the BBC has been airing old episodes of Line of Duty every Saturday to keep fans entertained. Last weekend, viewers got to watch the end of series two which focusses on corrupt copper DI Lindsay Denton (played by Keeley Hawes). But, could she be making a return?
Lindsay won’t be able to make a full return to the upcoming series, unless she can come back from the dead. Although, show creator Jed Mercurio has revealed that she could come back in a cameo role.
The showrunner took to Twitter on Sunday to tease fans with a cryptic post.
“Thanks to everyone who watched the conclusion of Line of Duty series 2 last night,” he tweeted.
“There’s still time to catch up on BBC iPlayer on series 3-5 ahead of series 6 next Sunday night.
“You never know where you might see Lindsay Denton pop up again…”
Another Line of Duty cast member teasing fans with his potential return was Craig Parkinson, who played DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan.
Responding to Jed’s tweet, he quizzed the show’s creator on who else could be coming back to the show.
“Ever the tease,” Craig penned.
“Wonder who else will popping up for S6? I know who’ve I’ve got my money on.”
Jed’s post sent fans into a frenzy, with many responding to his cryptic post on Twitter.
One wrote: “That really would be the greatest comeback since Lazarus.”
Another replied: “Such a tease.”
While one added: “Omg yes I hope we see her in series 6.”

Other Line of Duty fans are convinced that Dot could also be making a return to the series as viewers never actually saw him die.
“We never saw Dot actually died? One quizzed on Twitter. “Just the dying declaration and then the paramedics stepped in?”
Another fan responded: “That’s my favourite theory. That Dot is actually in witness protection.”
One added: “Well we never saw dots body so you never know.”
So far, three corrupt police officers have been caught, including DI Matthew Cottan (played by Craig Parkinson), ACC Derek Hilton (Paul Higgins) and Senior Legal Counsel Gill Biggeloe (Polly Walker).
At the end of season five, DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) had a revelation about Dot’s video of his dying declaration.
In addition to the corrupt copper’s blinking, Steve noticed that he was also making a tapping motion with his hands.
Dot could be seen using Morse Code to indicate the letter H meant four dots, so there are four senior police officers in cahoots with organised crime groups.
Line of Duty seasons 1-5 are available to watch on the BBC iPlayer now and season 6 starts March 21.
