Leonard Hofstadter lookalike had never seen show despite getting stopped by fans

A John Lewis worker who looks just like Leonard Hofstadter from The Big Bang Theory has told how he gets stopped in the street because people think he’s the actor – despite never watching the programme.

Shawn Levy, who looks the spitting image of the scientist, played by Johnny Galecki not only gets stopped by fans, but even his colleagues at work call him Leonard.

Speaking about the similarities, between the duo, Shawn told Metro.co.uk: ‘I had never watched the programme before.

‘We sort of look a bit similar and I didn’t think anything of but I have been stopped in the street a couple of times and they would say ‘isn’t that the guy from Big Bang Theory?’

It doesn’t stop there either because when Shawn and his partner Jade Knight first met, she saw the uncanny resemblance straight away.

He continued: ‘When we exchanged numbers years ago she actually put me down as Leonard in her phone.’

Since people started to realise the similarities between the two, Jade decided to take things one step further and even bought a Leonard-style outfit for Shawn to wear – and they’ve even started making hilarious TikTok videos.

In one of their latest videos Shawn can be seen wearing purple trousers and a purple hoody with a beige jacket over the top – just like Leonard.

The father-of-five can be seen stepping into a lift, along to the Big Bang theme tune (despite the lift never working on the series).

It also comes after Shawn’s three-year-old son Hayden thought his dad was Leonard when they were watching TBBT.

In another TikTok video, when Leonard popped up on the screen, Hayden can be seen pointing to the scientist as he says ‘daddy, daddy, daddy.’

The camera then pans to Shawn who is casually sitting on the sofa waving.

Leonard was played by Johnny Galecki in the hit CBS sitcom and was an experimental physicist.

He lived with his best pal Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and was married to Penny (Kaley Cuoco).

The iconic show came to an end in May 2019 after an incredible 12 seasons, making it the longest-running multi-camera sitcom in history.

The show ended after Jim quit the show and the producers decided not to continue without their leading man.

The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix in the UK.
