Killing Eve star Jodie Comer has revealed that she wants Brookside to make a comeback.
The actress — who’s best known for portraying assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve — told the Daily Star: ‘My earliest memory of television is Brookside.’
‘I used to get in the shower, wash my hair and sit in front of the fire with my nan and watch Brookside – and eat spearmints.’
I wish I could watch Brookside now. They need to make a comeback.’
We’re in agreement, Jodie!
The beloved Channel 4 soap — which was created by Hollyoaks creator Phil Redmond — commenced all the way back in 1982, and remained on the air for 21 years, before culminating in 2003.
The serial drama was home to some of the most iconic moments in British telly history, including the first pre-watershed lesbian kiss — which featured Anna Friel’s character — not to mention the iconic storyline that saw a body buried under the patio.
Since Brookside came to an end, fans have been calling for it to be revived, or re-run from the beginning at the very least.
Killing Eve returns to screens for its third season next week, with the first episode available to stream on BBC iPlayer at 6am on April 12.
