Katy Perry gave fans subtle clues she was calling her baby Daisy three months ago – The Sun

KATY Perry has welcomed her first child, daughter Daisy Dove, with fiance Orlando Bloom.

And while some fans were surprised at Katy's name choice, the singer has been dropping subtle "Daisy" clues for months leading up to her due date.

Daisies is, of course, the name of Katy's first released track from her new album, Smile.

The 35-year-old dropped the tune in May – three months before giving birth – and has been leaving daisy-themed hints all over her social media ever since.

Katy said the song symbolizes "strength and resilience" for her and "going for your dreams".

She wrote on Instagram: “I wrote this song a couple months ago as a call to remain true to the course you’ve set for yourself, regardless of what others may think."

The first-time mom added: “Recently, it has taken a new meaning for me, in light of what the whole world is experiencing. Each of us is one in more than seven billion, with our own story of strength and resilience to tell.

"DAISIES is out now. I hope it will be the soundtrack to going for your dreams now… especially the ones we left behind.”

In the music video, she explores a picturesque forest before finding a field of daisies and lying down among the pretty flowers.

Katy dropped a major baby name hint on May 6, when she released daisy-motif sandals from her shoe-wear collection, with profits going to a charity helping babies and children affected by the pandemic.

Showing off her wares, she wrote: "Sticks and stones may break your bones, but Daisies are the friendliest flower 🌼🤗 📸: @tina.fasce."

Just six days later, the Firework singer posted a photo of a yellow daisy alongside a lyric from Daisies.

"I’ll never let ‘em change me til they cover me in… #daisies🌼," Katy wrote.

On May 17, Katy made a serious statement about her affliction with the flower by wearing a yellow, black and white daisy-print dress to her first televised performance of Daisies during the American Idol final.

She even created an Instagram filter for the song two days later, with the Daisies motif spinning above her head.

Sharing a clip of herself looking mischievous, Katy wrote: "What lyric from #Daisies embodies you? Let my new Instagram filter decide for you."

And on May 21, Katy shared a selfie of herself wearing a Daisies-print protective face mask.

She explained that all proceeds from her Daisies merch were going to Direct Relief, a Santa Barbara-based charity providing PPE and medical items to health workers.

Katy previously hinted that she'd consider the name Harley – inspired by her song Harley's in Hawaii from the album Smile.

Speaking to ET Canada, the Teenage Dream singer said: "I've never thought of Harley… ever! Wow! Harley is a great name! Harley Bloom. Hold on… excuse me I'm writing it down."

She added: "But honestly, I'm telling you, this is a really great addition. I'll send it to [Orlando]. It's beautiful!"

And back in July, Katy said another flower name was a contender – Fleur.

After singer Fleur East asked if she'd consider her name for her own baby, Katy said: "It's actually really beautiful. Legit, it may go on the list. I'm going to text him (Orlando) right now."

Katy announced she was pregnant on March 5 with the release of her music video, Never Worn White, joking that she no longer has to hide her burgeoning bump.

The video featured her cradling what looked like a baby bump in a white dress, before the final shot left fans in no doubt that the singer was expecting her first child – as she stood sideways on wearing only a sheer gown.

Katy and Orlando began dating in 2016 and got engaged on February 14, 2019.

The superstar couple have reportedly postponed their upcoming Japan wedding over coronavirus fears.
