Kate Garraway to ‘present new home renovation show set to rival DIY: SOS’

Popular Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway is said to be in line to 'present new home renovation show set to rival DIY: SOS' for ITV.

Kate, 54, will reportedly draw on her recent experiences of adapting her home to care for husband Derek Draper for the new show called Life Changing Homes.

The programme is set to be similar in style to BBC’s DIY SOS and will see a team help families, similar to Kate’s own situation, where a major adaptation is needed as the result of a family member’s accident or illness.

A source told The Sun: “Kate is the perfect person to front a show like this given that she knows all about adapting to looking after someone since hubby Derek returned from hospital.”

The source continued: “Although she’s a very different character to Nick, she’s hugely popular with viewers who see her as a down to earth figure. She really connects with the public because, like many people, she has gone through a rough time since the pandemic started. At this stage the show is just a pilot, which was filmed this autumn.

“But ITV have high hopes it will become a new series in the new year. They’re keen to provide a platform for Kate as her profile has soared.”

OK! has contacted Kate’s representatives for comment.

Kate has openly spoken about her husband Derek’s, 54, battle with Covid who spent a year in hospital fighting for his life after contracting the virus in 2020, and since his return home,Kate has been acting as a carer for him as he is still suffering from complicationsfrom Covid-19 after beating the virus.

The TV favourite shared a family snap on 'bumpy' Christmas Day after Derek had a health scare over the festive period.

Posting a picture of Derek watching Nativity with their two children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 12, Kate admitted that she felt so "grateful" that her family had the chance to be "together" on Christmas Day.

She penned: "So the last 24 hours has been bumpy – a scare that meant Derek might have had to go back into hospital ( thankfully sorted by a visit from nurse/carer) , he has also had one of his ultra fatigue days so has been too weak to do much other than sleep.
