EastEnders: Kellie Bright discusses whodunnit flash forward
Over the past few months, EastEnders viewers have seen Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) struggle to manage The Queen Vic ever since Mick (Danny Dyer) was lost at sea over Christmas. However, it looks as though her luck is about to change when her mother decides to make an appearance with her boyfriend and his two daughters.
Fans of the BBC soap will be aware it’s not been easy for the Queen Vic landlady over the past few months.
Not only has she lost Mick, but she’s had both friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Nish (Navin Chowdhry) and Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) at war with one another to try and invest in the pub.
Although Sharon recently revealed she’d be able to beat the Panesars’ offer after turning to ex-partner Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) for help, little does she know Linda has come up with a plan of her own.
After secretly teaming up with her mother Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), Walford residents will be in for a shock when she bursts onto Albert Square, and she’s not alone.
Elaine has brought along her new lover George Knight (Colin Salmon) and his two daughters Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford).
BBC viewers will be introduced to the Knight family this summer with George described as a tough-talking, fiercely protective and doting dad.
Fans of the soap may recognise the new character from a series of films and TV shows as actor Colin Salmon has a career spanning 42 years.
The actor has starred in Prime Suspect, Limitless, Death in Paradise and James Bond.
Speaking about joining the cast, Colin said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders to take on the role of George Knight.
“I’m excited to explore the character of George, a true East End gentleman having been born in the East End myself.
“I have a great affinity and love for the show and I look forward to being part of the great legacy.”
Joining George as he makes his debut will be Linda’s mother Elaine, who will be played by Harriet Thorpe, best known for her West End performances and her role on Absolutely Fabulous.

When touching on the new character in EastEnders, Harriet called her the ultimate matriarch with a huge personality.
Despite confirming there’s a vulnerable side to her role, she teased Elaine won’t take prisoners and will fight with all she’s got, suggesting viewers will see a fierce side in the near future.
She commented: “The Vic needs strong women running it, and I want to honour the incredible, iconic queens who define EastEnders since the beginning.
“The entire company is a dream come true to work with, full of support, laughs, and creativity, with the warmest welcome from day one. The East End is where my family started out, so for me, this feels like coming home!”
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw touched on the arrival of The Knight family to Albert Square later this year.
He said: “George Knight is a charming rogue and an old-school gent who dotes on his two daughters, Gina and Anna. George will take up residence in The Queen Vic when he joins his beloved Elaine, a powerhouse of a land-lady who knows just how to have fun.
“The couple will be joined by feisty, determined and demanding Gina, who is as sharp and cool as cut diamonds but with a temper that blazes like fire, whereas younger sister, Anna is fun, loveable, and big-hearted, but don’t underestimate her.
“George, Gina and Anna have been bound together for years and arriving in Walford is the fresh start the Knights are looking for.”
