JAMES Blunt told Chris Evans today that he still hasn't found a donor for his father, who is gravely ill with stage 4 chronic kidney disease.
The 45-year-old singer was in surprisingly high spirits however as he joked about the reason he was on the Virgin Radio show.
He said: "That's why I'm doing the various radio and TV shows – searching for business."
The singer revealed his father's serious disease last month, saying he devoted his album Once Upon A Mind to different stages of his life.
It includes a song called Monsters about a son saying goodbye to his father who has passed away.
Colonel Charles Blount, James's 73-year-old dad, found out about his illness by taking a blood pressure test, the star told Chris Evans.
The DJ was taking the blood pressure of guests on the show this morning, urging listeners to do this often and keep fit.
James said that realising his father's own mortality was a big inspiration for him.
He spoke about his own family saying: " I'm seeing the circle of life play out in front of me".
The You're Beautiful star has had an incredibly successful career with six albums and more than a billion Spotify listens. His album Once Upon A Time is out now.
The Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast show with Sky is on weekdays from 6.30am
