After topping the leaderboard two weeks in a row, Strictly Come Dancing couple HRVY and Janette Manrara found themselves slipping down as they failed to impress the judges. They permed the Cha Cha Cha to Don’t Got Breaking My Heart dressed as gnomes for Movie Week. After wowing with a Viennese Waltz and Jive in previous weeks, it seemed his latest routine fell short.
Judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood all revealed they felt HRVY hadn’t performed as well as usual.
Host Tess Daly asked: “Did it put a smile on your face Craig?”
“I would have actually liked to have seen just one basic Cha Cha Cha,” he remarked as Tess exclaimed: “What?”
Craig continued: “There wasn’t one in there for me.
“The New York, your feet just need to be turned a little more so you don’t look parallel, just a little bit turned out.
“It looked a little bit awkward on your for some reason. I think that’s due to the footwork and straight leg to be honest.
“The story, I absolutely loved, it was so much fun. I would love to have two gnomes in my garden that look like you guys.”
Head judge Shirley added: “Well, I absolutely loved the concept and you are super cool and definitely fun so I’m sure everyone at home will be enjoying that.
“We had two Cuban breaks, two locksteps, one chassis, and a New Yorker so for me that was not enough content but I loved what you did.
“You execute everything well but to Cha Cha Cha, we are one week three, so if you can incorporate a little more of the character, get the body moving, feet at five to one.”
HRVY’s score of 21 points meant he slipped down the leaderboard to eighth place.
The popstar was previously one of the favourites to win this year’s series with his partner Janette.

His odds of winning were priced at 5/2 by Ladbrokes, closely following EastEnders star Maisie Smith (9/4).
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We originally had Bill Bailey priced as a rank 33/1 outsider for this year’s Glitterball Trophy but it looks like the comedian might have the last laugh if the latest odds are anything to go by.”
Viewers were far from impressed with HRVY’s score with many claiming he should have scored higher than fellow contestant Jamie Laing.
Jamie and his partner Karen Hauer performed a Hercules-inspired Charleston and were awarded 23 points.
Fans rushed to Twitter to claim the Made in Chelsea star was “overmarked” with one sharing: “I know it’s an entertainment piece, but how did Jamie get a higher score than HRVY? #Strictly.”
Another added: “I’m still confused on how jamie got a higher score than harvey wtf #strictly.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Sunday on BBC One at 7.25pm.
