Prince McQueen will be ditching Hollyoaks for the jungle – at least temporarily.
It was announced on Monday night (November 12) that Prince actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer will be venturing into the Australian bush alongside John Barrowman, fellow soap legend Rita Simons and other stars when I’m a Celebrity begins this Sunday.
Malique confirmed to the I’m a Celebrity press team that he has indeed had to step away from playing Prince to compete in the jungle, but it’s only temporary. He fully intends to return once I’m a Celeb ends.
The young actor attributed the busy Hollyoaks schedule as one of the reasons why he signed on for the ITV reality competition, explaining: “I have been quite full-on with filming on Hollyoaks recently so it’s going to be nice to have a little break – but obviously a very different kind of break!
“I am taking some time out to do this but when I have finished, I will be back. It’s nice to go on I’m a Celebrity as me rather than as my character, Prince.”
The 20-year-old also revealed that his fellow Hollyoaks castmates, family and friends have been nothing but supportive in his decision to enter the jungle.
“They are all so made up for me,” he said. “This has been such a dream come true year, it really has.”
Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby present the launch of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here on Sunday night (November 18) at 9pm.
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing at 7pm on E4.
