Hollyoaks star confirms character plays key role in soap’s ‘biggest stunt ever’

Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring has teased the soap's big stunt set to air next month, after a dramatic new trailer hinted at what was to come.

Co-star Kieron Richardson recently claimed the stunt was going to be the "biggest and best ever", with new details finally confirmed.

Now, speaking exclusively to Mirror Online , Stephanie who plays Cindy Cunningham on the Channel 4 soap has revealed more, as well as confirming her character plays a role in the big scenes.

For her new business venture, Cindy is hoping to make the family name mean something in the village again.

Steph teased: "There's lots of Cindy and Luke stuff coming… will they, won’t they get together, and also Cindy's new venture which ties in with the stunt that's about to happen."

With the help of newcomer builder Woody, played by Jake Quickenden, the village goes under construction but it leads to deadly events.

It's revealed that Luke will get inside the crane and start pressing a load of buttons, not happy with how long the works are taking – but disaster strikes.

Luke can do nothing but watch on in horror from The Hutch as the crane crashes down on the village, leaving those on the ground, and underground, fighting for their lives.

With Mitchell and Scott in the florist, Cindy in the village, and Darren, Nancy, Ella and Charlie all in the tunnels beneath the village, several lives could be on the line.

Steph told us: "There's a lot of exciting things coming up with the show at the minute and this stunt involves a lot of the originals, cast wise.

"So it's been a lot of fun to work with Gary (Lucy), Sarah (Jayne Dunn), Ellis (Hollins), Ashley (Taylor Dawson) and Jess (Fox) and I can’t tease too much all, but Cindy definitely plays a key part in it."

She added of working with former Dancing on Ice co-star Jake: "We’ve just finished filming it and it's going to look amazing so I can’t wait.

"Jake has been a breath of fresh air for the show. I was very excited to work with him and he was really good and made us all laugh so much on set every day, and I’d love for him to stick around."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with the next episode at 7pm on E4.
