Holly Willoughby is set to return to This Morning on Monday after she took an extended half-term break following Phillip Schofield's resignation from the show.
After he stepped down from the show, Phillip confessed to having had an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague, with ITV and Holly both releasing statements that he had lied to them when questioned about this.
Despite both Phillip and Holly denying she had any knowledge of the affair, there have still been calls for Holly to step down too.
However, she appears to be remaining defiant with reports suggesting she will be returning to the show on Monday in the hopes that she can "ride out" the scandal.
The MailOnline reports that Holly, who is said to have been left an "emotional wreck" following the scandal and fallout, will return to the This Morning sofa on Monday, where she will be joined by Alison Hammond.
While an inside source told The Sun: "She has made it clear she was one of the people Phil lied to and she has nothing to hide. She will return to This Morning as planned on Monday and carry on like the professional she is.
"Holly has been affected by Phil’s actions and it has been very difficult. She is devoted to This Morning however and will continue to do the best job she can for them."
It comes after former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes called for Holly to step down.
During an interview with GB News's Dan Wotton, the outspoken broadcaster said: "Holly doesn't know people's names. This is legendary within the production teams, that how distant [she and Schofield] are and how they just don't care.
"Not only should Phillip go, but Holly should follow him out the door. I don't think you'll ever see Holly back on the couch again."
After Phillip confessed to the affair, Holly took to social media to share that she was hurt by her former close friend's lies.
On her Instagram Story she wrote: "It's taken time to process yesterday's news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It's been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly."
Holly's statement came after ITV announced that they were "deeply disappointed" by the "admissions of deceit."
However, in a statement addressing the relationship, the network have now said they first conducted an investigation into Phillip's rumoured relationship with an employee back in 2020 – but that he had denied the rumours at the time.
