Chip and Joanna Gaines didn’t just gain a massive following because of their home design tips and tricks on Fixer Upper. Fans became obsessed with the couple because they weren’t afraid to be totally real on camera — including showing their love for one another. From their goofy antics to their sweet words about one another, it’s no wonder fans are over the moon about the fact that they’re coming back to TV with their own Magnolia network.
As it turns out, their body language has a lot to do with how they present their love in front of the camera. Body language experts have revealed just what Chip and Joanna Gaines’ body language says about their relationship.
Joanna leans into Chip

Have you ever noticed that whenever Chip and Joanna are on camera together, Joanna always seems to be facing and leaning into her husband? Body language expert Patti Wood explains why it has such a significant meaning. “This subconscious act shows the she thinks Chip is more important — and attractive — than the camera,” Wood told Good Housekeeping.
“This symbolizes the unity of their relationship,” she added. “She leans on him when she needs it and vice versa.”

From social media to being on TV, Chip and Joanna can’t keep their hands to themselves. Chip often gives Joanna little kisses on her cheek or the top of her head — and it’s beyond adorable. Wood explained, “Kissing on the cheek is more intimate and is typically a prelude to deeper affection.”
Aside from kissing, Joanna is often seen holding onto or linking with Chip’s arm. “It’s clear that this is a desire to be connected and viewed as a unit,” Wood revealed. “While this can be a type of ownership, there’s also a sweetness to this gesture.”
Blanca Cobb, another body language expert, agrees with Wood. “Linking or holding arms brings you physically closer together,” she told Good Housekeeping. “When you’re feeling loving towards your partner, you’ll find ways to get closer.”
They love being goofy together

Some people might get embarrassed if their partner acted the way Chip and Joanna do on camera. Instead, their body language indicates that they really do love being goofy together — and they don’t care who sees it. “When Joanna becomes the center of attention, it’s clear that Chip doesn’t mind,” Wood said. “He always responds to her actions with a smile, indicating that he’s fine — and proud — of his wife’s behavior.”
Another body language expert, Traci Brown, pointed out that Joanna feels the same way about Chip’s hilarious behavior. She noted, “The great thing is that she’s truly entertained by his antics. Most importantly, she never leaks anger and neither does he when she gets him in line.”
They’re part of a team

Whether they’re being silly or genuinely expressing their love for each other, one thing’s for sure: They’re always part of a team. Wood explained, “Their body language overlaps. Instead of two separate silhouettes, they create a united front.”
