EastEnders star Heather Peace has given fans an insight into what the stars of one on-screen bromance get up to behind the scenes, and they’re just as close as their characters.
Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) and Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) are the best of friends, with passer’s-by even mistaking them for a married couple amid Kathy and Rocky’s (Gillian Taylforth and Brian Conley) disastrous wedding.
Off-screen, Bobby and Clay appear just as close as their on-screen characters, as captured by Eve Unwin star Heather.
In the adorable behind the scenes video, Bobby presented Clay with a special birthday present, and Clay looked completely thrilled.
As Heather asked what he’d been gifted, Clay showed off a guitar, with Bobby humbly admitting that it was one he’d had for a while.
The pair lived up to Heather’s caption of ‘real life bromance’ as they pulled each other in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek, with Heather branding them ‘besties’ in the background.
Bobby and Clay have been very open about their friendship in the past, telling Metro.co.uk that they don’t have to do too much acting when it comes to the relationship between their characters.
‘We obviously just really get on,’ Clay told us at the British Soap Awards. ‘All the bromance on screen, I just don’t feel like I’m acting really.’
‘Yeah, it’s real. It comes from off-screen, onto screen,’ Bobby agreed.
However, sometimes their close friendship can get them into trouble on set, Bobby revealed.
‘I just want to say, it’s great working with him but it’s very difficult at the same time because sometimes we’ll be doing serious scenes and he’s the funniest person I think I’ve ever met!
‘He’ll do something that’s so subtly funny that just has me in bits and its game over. We try and recoup, I’m new to this whole acting thing so I’m trying to get emotional again, but I can’t stop laughing!’
