GMB’s Ed Balls teases ultimate career U-turn as James Bond race continues

Good Morning Britain presenter Ed Balls has hinted at a possible career U-turn in his future after Charlotte Hawkins teased his dream job had an age “cut off”.

During Wednesday’s visit to the ITV studios, the former politician replaced Richard Madeley during his well-deserved break, as the host welcomed viewers back to the show alongside his co-host Susanna Reid.

One of the biggest stories on everyone’s lips was the ongoing fight for the role of the beloved British spy James Bond as a slew of A-list stars were removed from the race.

But it appears as though it’s not just Hollywood actors who were disappointed with the news after the TV presenter shared his disappointment on the morning show.

Charlotte Hawkins revealed that the producers for the upcoming James Bond movie have revealed that they are looking for an actor in their mid-thirties.

She told viewers: “There is that continued speculation as to who is going to be the next Bond.

“I'm reading in the papers today and one of the producers is saying there's an age limit suggested – no over 40s they need a 30-something James Bond.

It was at this point that Ed shared his disappointment at missing out on the 007 stint as the blonde bombshell shared her heartache for the former politician on air.

She gushed: “I know Ed, sorry you look really disappointed there, but that might rule you out unfortunately.

Flabbergasted, he joked: “No way – my CV was in!” as the broadcaster apologised: “Sorry about that, Ed.”

Daniel Craig officially stepped down from the fictional role following his stellar performance in 2019's No Time To Die.

The actor was 38 when he first signed on to play the infamous 007 character back in 2006 for the rebooted film Casino Royale which spanned a further five films over the next 13 years.
